10 minute Tutorial on using Email with your Treo smartphone
(Palm OS)

( The instructions below are for Treo users with the Palm Operating System. )

Take the power of Email with you on your Treo.

Setup an email on Godaddy (optional)
1- Logon to the Godaddy website, click on the menu item "Email" then on the drop down select "My Email Account".
2- On the Manage Email page, select the check box that corresponds to your email account, then click on the "Manage Account" link on the right under the Control Panel column.
3- On the Email Control Center window, select "Email Plans" on the left menu and create a new email address using your own domain.

Once you have created a new email address you can logon to its corresponding web email account to look for new incoming emails or to send emails from it.
Your new email address can be accessed using this web-based email website:

http://email.secureserver.net

Setting up an email with Versamail on the Treo
Once you have created your own email address, you can link to it from the Treo and use the Treo to send and receive emails using this address.
You can also link any other email account other than the one created above on Godaddy with the Treo. Make sure you visit your provider to get the mail POP account server domain addresses to set this up. For an account created with Godaddy, the POP server addresses are provided in the instructions below, but they can easily be modified to use different mail server domains from a different provider.

Example of other email accounts setup:
If your want to connect to your Google Gmail address you may use the following info to incorporate with the instruction below:
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com Use SSL: Yes Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication) Use Authentication: Yes Use STARTTLS: Yes
(some clients call this SSL) Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your Gmail username (including @gmail.com)
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Password: your Gmail password

If your want to connect to your Yahoo email address you may use the following info to incorporate with the instruction below:
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
Account Name/Username: YourYahooIdName
Email address: YourYahooIdName@yahoo.com
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Instructions to setup email on the Treo
1 - Install Versamail from the Treo CD or get it from the web.
2 - Select the "Email" icon on the main menu to start Versamail.
3 - Once inside the Versamail application, click on the Treo menu button to bring up the top menu, then go to Accounts and select Account Setup.
4 - Select New
5 - Account Name: Type an account name that will remind you of the email account you are trying to access.
6 - Mail Service: select "Other" from the drop down menu (very top choice).
7 - Protocol: POP
8 - Click the Next button on the lower right.
9 - Username: type the email address that you want to access, Ex: mynewemailname@myowndomain.com
10 - Password: enter the passord that you setup when you created the email account.
11 - Click the Next button on the lower right.
12 - Incoming Mail Server: mail.secureserver.net
(if using an email account created on Godaddy, if else use your corresponding pop server domain info).
13 - Outgoing Mail Server: smtpout.secureserver.net
(if using an email account created on Godaddy, if else use your corresponding pop server domain info).
14 - Click the Next button on the lower right
15 - Click the Advanced button on the lower right (GoDaddy account specific).
16 - On the Incoming Server Settings window click the Next button on the lower right because you do not need to make change in there.
17 - On the Outgoing Server Settings window, click the checkbox for "Use authentication (ESMTP) then make sure that the user name and password are entered correctly so that you will be able to connect to the server to send emails. so you may use your new email address as a username and its corresponding password.
18 - Click the Done button on the lower right.
